Samira Rafaela has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. In the European Parliament, Samira fights for equity and fair trade. She does this as a member of the International Trade Committee, where she is the vice-coordinator of Renew Europe. She is also a member of the Committee of Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, where she is the coordinator of Renew Europe. Additionally, Samira is an alternate member of both the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs and the Human Rights Committee. Before being elected to the European Parliament, Samira advised the Dutch police on inclusion and diversity.
In this lecture, Samira Rafaela will consider her role as a Member of the European Parliament within the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender equality and discuss how she defies prejudices within the European Parliament and how she puts intersectionality at the heart of her efforts.
