Biography
Danielle Fernandes is a doctoral researcher at RHEA, Research Centre on Gender, Diversity and Intersectionality, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Drawing on experience across India, sub-Saharan Africa, and Belgium, she uses creative, participatory methods to advance intersectional, community-led responses to sexual health and rights. Her PhD explores sexual harassment in public spaces in Brussels through an intersectional lens, with a focus on women with migration backgrounds. Alongside her academic research, she collaborates with ZIJkant vzw on City Confessions, an initiative that uses play and dialogue to train bystanders to respond to sexual harassment.
