Dr. Carlos Cuinhane

Carlos Eduardo Cuinhane (Mozambique (Southern Africa)), concluded his undergraduate studies in Social Sciences in 2004 at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), Mozambique, and a Bachelor Horner in Sociology in 2006 at the same University. In 2010, he obtained a Master Degree in Anthropology at Institute of Anthropology, Gender and African Studies (IAGAS), at Nairobi University, Kenya. He’s a Lecturer and researcher since 2010 at Eduardo Mondlane University, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology, and is a visitING Lecturer since 2011 at Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences, St. Tomas University of Mozambique. In these Universities, he teaches Sociology of Development, Sociology of Health, Social Policy and Sociology Theories. In 2018, he completed his PhD titled "Perception and Practices Regarding Pregnancy Care and Infant Feeding among Mothers Living with HIV in Rural Maputo Province, Mozambique: a sociological study".

His research areas are Medical Anthropology, Sociology of Health, Gender and Development. He conducted different researches on education, gender and employment; zoonotic disease and public health; Gender; HIV and Sexual Reproductive Health and Human Rights; Gender and Violence; Women and HIV awareness and practices among immigrants, and Civil Society and Development in Mozambique. At present, he is undertaking a research on Gender, HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health in Mozambique.
