This course aims to provide an introduction to central concepts, philosophical discussions and normative debates on sexuality.
The introduction will set out the various philosophical perspectives and ethical frameworks (including natural law and liberal traditions). Further, socio-historical backgrounds and theoretical explanations of value changes on embodiment and sexuality will be studied. In addition, an overview of critical theories on gender and sexuality (feminist theory, LGBTI studies) will be offered. Finally, research and current debates on sexualization, sexual agency, sexual rights, intimate citizenship, globalization and cultural diversity will be discussed.
