Kaat Cappelle obtained a Master in law (Ghent University) and a Master of Arts in History (Ghent University). She is currently working on a PhD-dissertation of the legal status of women in 16th Century Antwerp and Leuven, under the direction of Prof. dr. Dave De ruysscher.
