Biography
Margot Thewis is a PhD researcher at the Department of Political Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She holds a master’s degree in Political Science from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Her research interests include symbolic representation, political representation of groups, representative effects on citizens, gender issues, inclusivity and (gender-sensitive) parliaments. Margot is currently conducting a PhD research under the supervision of Prof. dr. Karen Celis and Prof. dr. Silvia Erzeel (Department of Political Science, Vrije Universiteit Brussel). This PhD research explores symbolic representation of gender equality in parliaments and its representative effects on citizens.
