We are happy to announce the 8th biennial conference of the Afroeuropeans Network titled "Intersectional Challenges in Afroeuropean Communities".
The Afroeuropeans Network conference will be held 7-10 July 2021 in Brussels, on the campus of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, with keynote speakers Philomena Essed, Cécile Kyenge and Kehinde Andrews.
The conference is supported by RHEA and is organised by an international team affiliated to different universities and in collaboration with academic and non-academic partners across Brussels and beyond. The conference focuses on Intersectional Challenges in Afroeuropean Communities and aims to be a conference for, by, and with Afroeuropeans, with the contribution of their allies and in dialogue with other marginalised groups.
We are of course acutely aware of the particular context in which we make this announcement. The impact and consequences of racism have become the centre of global attention, while the COVID-19 crisis has exacerbated existing inequalities. The need to come together to share our thoughts and struggles is greater than ever. We hope to offer such a space for interaction and reflection.
The call for panels is now open! All info can be found on the Afroeuropeans 2021 conference website.
