VUB EQUALITY NETWORK
Providing groups, organizations and other VUB-students who work on equality and inclusion, an exchange platform, practical support and a platform to connect and strengthen them. That is the goal of the brand new VUB Equality Network (VEN), which the Equality Team of the VUB will launch on Thursday 26 November via an online event. The VEN wants to connect the whole VUB (students and staff) and all groups that are already working on equality and inclusion at the VUB in a network.
Recognition, connection, reinforcement
VEN aims to act as a megaphone for the problems and solutions formulated by its members, to connect and support them, but also to co-create the VUB equality policy. The network connects the different groups, but above all ensures that their important work is both seen and heard at the university as well as influences policy.
The network began to grow in response to the conversation about racism. There the great need for more voices to think along about policy at the VUB became very clear.
Launch with panel discussion on 26/11
The starting shot of the VUB Equality Network is an online panel discussion with Iman Lechkar (on behalf of RHEA and the Fatima Mernissi Chair), Olivier Tshinkobo (alumnus, participant in conversation about racism), Lena Imeraj (on behalf of BIRMM, BCUS and Cosmopolis), Ange-Vanessa Nsanzineza (on behalf of #WeDecolonizeVUB), Inas Djelloul (on behalf of MixOmnia) and Chantelle Motsi (on behalf of ASCOM). Moderator on duty is VUBer Nadia Naji.
